Louis has been a percussionist, arranger, and bandleader for more than 35 years. He serves as Director of the Conservatory’s Latin Percussion Program, Musical Director, and Conductor of the Harbor Latin Big Band. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Louis is a recognized authority on Afro-Caribbean folklore. He has studied in Africa, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. As a member of the Tito Puente Orchestra, he recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Machito, Eddie Palmieri, and Celia Cruz, among others.
Master Teacher, Latin Music
Coordinator, Jazz and Colombian Music Pablo, a Colombian-born arranger, composer, and pianist, is a member of the Conservatory’s piano faculty. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s in jazz arranging from the University of North Texas. Pablo began his study of the native music of Colombia as a professor of jazz at Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. In New York City, he founded and produced the annual Colombian music festival, Encuentro NYC. His band, Folklore Urbano Orchestra, is redefining modern Colombian music.
