Stand-Up 4 Kids: Laughing for a Good Cause
The Gotham Comedy Club hosts a “fun-raiser” to support educational programming at Boys & Girls Harbor.
Feraz Shere, named 2016’s “funniest man in finance,” and a wonderful group of fellow comedians hosted a Stand-Up 4 Kids fundraiser at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City on November 29, 2017. Proceeds from ticket sales and an on-site auction raised thousands of dollars to support educational programming at Boys & Girls Harbor through the 2017-18 school year.
Comedian and actor, Rick Crom, who has appeared on such notable shows as Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards, and Elementary, was our MC for the evening.
Feraz Shere is a great champion of Boys & Girls Harbor. Feraz’s enthusiastic support of our work and mission made Stand-Up 4 Kids possible. He was joined on stage by other talented performers: Tara Cannistraci, Ramy Youssef, Mike Vecchione, Michelle Buteau, and Wil Sylvince.
Some of the students from the Harbor Elite Ensemble got their own turn at the spotlight when they performed a vibrant rendition of “A Night in Tunisia” as the show’s opening act.
Among the events’ major supporters was UBS Investment Bank. Dozens of their managers and top staffers crowded the main room of the Gotham Comedy Club to cheer Feraz on and enjoy a well-deserved comedy break.
The financial support of business and community leaders is invaluable to us as an organization. It also sets an indelible example for our children to see what it means to give back joyfully.
We are immensely grateful to Kelsey Griffin and the entire the Gotham Comedy Club management and staff and each of the very talented comics comedians who made Stand-Up 4 Kids such a fun, memorable, and successful night for Boys & Girls Harbor.
PS: We’re doing it again in 2018!
