The Harbor Performing Arts Academy brings out some of the best in our students.  Its objective is for students to communicate proficiently in at least one art form. They will have an informed acquaintance with exemplary works of art from a variety of cultural and historical periods.

We offer performing arts instruction on weekday afternoons and on Saturdays during the school year, and for seven weeks during the summer.  Group classes include: music appreciation, theory, choir, percussion, and digital music production; Hip-Hop, African, Latin, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Modern dance; acting, drama exposure, improvisation, musical theatre, and play production. Everyone is encouraged to perform in end-of-semester recitals and culminating musical theater productions.

For Kids Who Are Serious About Becoming Performing Artists

Boys & Girls Harbor is a member of the Berklee City Music Network. Our high school age students are eligible to compete for scholarships to Berklee College of Music summer program.

Advanced students can audition for the Harbor Elite Dance Ensemble and the Harbor Youth Choir. These students take additional technique classes and commit to a demanding rehearsal schedule throughout the year.  Ensembles give particularly talented and motivated students even more performing experience, and the chance to share the stage with professional performers such as Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Josh Groban, and Andra Day.

The Goal for All Students

Whatever their experience or ability, through the Harbor Academy, all students learn to collaborate, compromise, express themselves creatively and forcefully, recognize each other’s unique talents, and develop their own gifts. This is another way the Harbor helps develop the skills our students need for mastery in in any endeavor they choose to pursue.
